Meet Vanessa Norwood McGregor, APRN, FNP-BC, MBA

Vanessa is a board-certified family nurse practitioner (FNP-BC) in Paducah, Kentucky, who specializes in adult health and wellness. Vanessa is committed to providing every patient with an in-depth analysis of all body systems seeking to identify the root cause of illness. Maintaining high standards of care in a friendly environment is paramount to her practice.

Vanessa graduated summa cum laude from Murray State University with a Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN). She was the recipient of Esther Drexler, Wayne T. Harrel Memorial, and Kentucky Institute of International Studies scholarships during her 4-year tenure at MSU. Vanessa studied Spanish in Spain between her junior and senior years. After graduating, she immediately began her career in intensive care. Although she took care of a wide array of diseases and injuries in ICU, she loved recovering open heart surgeries and working with traumatic head injuries. Having an entrepreneurial spirit and love of education, she completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA)at Murray State University while working full-time as a RN in ICU.

After the birth of her first child, Vanessa entered the education arena. First and foremost, she loves learning and applying that knowledge to help others with their health. Second, teaching offered a schedule conducive to having young children at home. For the next nine years, Vanessa taught nursing at every level of the Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program, supervised clinical practicum in the Registered Nurse (RN) program, facilitated/led clinical groups at local hospitals every semester, served as Chair of the Curriculum Review Committee, and developed an online course for the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. When her children were at the tender ages of 1 and 3 years old, and while teaching full-time, Vanessa entered a graduatenursing program.

At the time of her inception, the family nurse practitioner program at Frontier Nursing University(FNU) was ranked 13thin the nation. FNU represents the first family nurse practitioner program in the country, and today, remains a premier school in master’s preparation. Vanessa graduated with a 4.0 GPA and was a two-time recipient of the Nursing Incentive Scholarship provided by the Kentucky Board of Nursing. Vanessa is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and maintains membership in the American Holistic Nurses Association.
